The Georges Vigouroux house was founded in 1887 in Lot, with the aim of promoting and increasing awareness around the wines of South-West France. A pioneer of the Cahors appellation and an expert in French Malbec, the Georges Vigouroux house distributes its wines throughout the world.
Since the house’s founding, four generations of Vigouroux have succeeded one another. The founder had to deal with the destruction of the vines by phylloxera and passed the torch to his son Gabriel in the early part of the twentieth century.
Today Bertrand-Gabriel Vigouroux, enamoured with his terroir and passionate about the Malbec grape variety, continues the work of his peers. His belief in wine tourism encouraged him to delve into the upscale hotel business in the 1980s, with the takeover of Château de Mercuès, Relais & Châteaux Hotel ****. He has also created a winery and an ultramodern cellar at Château de Haute-Serre, where he cultivates his favorite grape variety of Malbec.
